How to Check Your Developer Account Agreements

While Vimeo OTT is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of your branded applications, it is your responsibility to ensure your application platform developer accounts are in good standing. Over time, application platforms will periodically update their terms and policies and, in some instances, require your action to agree to them. 

In many cases, application platforms will send email notifications to developer account users about impending changes or updates to available agreements and settings. However, even if you do not receive a notification, it is highly recommended to check all developer accounts at a regular interval to ensure everything is up-to-date. This will maintain Vimeo OTT's ability to update and distribute your applications.

Without acceptance, our Branded Applications team will become blocked from being able to submit application updates on your behalf.

While reviewing platform agreements, please note:

  • Vimeo OTT cannot accept these agreements on your behalf.
  • If you have a Samsung Tizen application, it will remain within Vimeo OTT's developer account. There will be no agreements for you to accept for this platform.

Apple (iOS + tvOS)

Within App Store Connect, you will want to ensure the following are completed:

  • Agreements
    • Free Applications Agreement (a.k.a. Apple Developer Program License Agreement) - This is a general Apple developer agreement that allows your application to be published on the Apple App Store.
    • Paid Apps - This is needed if you are a paid service (SVOD and/or TVOD IAP).
      • NOTE - Allowing your Paid Apps agreement to expire will cause all in-application purchasing to failwithin your application. This includes removing the ability for new subscribers to purchase as well as disabling existing subscriber renewals.

  • Compliance
    • Recently, Apple introduced a new compliance regulation for the Digital Services Act, which affects your application if meant to be distributed within the European Union ("EU"). Even if you do not intend to distribute within the EU, please complete this section.

  • Apple may flag that they require more information about your submitted banking and/or tax details, similar to the notification below. You will be able to update this information within the "Bank Accounts" and "Tax Information" section of the "Agreements" page. 
    • Failure to update this information may affect your payout from Apple.

IMPORTANT

Unlike other application platforms, your Apple Developer account membership needs to be renewed every year. Follow these steps to ensure you enable auto-renewal. If you allow your developer account to expire, your application will be removed from the Apple App Store and all in-application purchasing functionality will cease until you renew.

Google (Android + Android TV)

Within the Google Play developer console, you will want to ensure the following are completed:

  • Payments Profile
    • This is needed if you are a paid service (SVOD and/or TVOD IAP).
    • If there are issues with your Payment Profile, it may result in your revenue payouts being delayed or cause purchasing / renewal issues for your in-application users.
    • This section can be accessed via the "Settings" menu --> "Monetization" --> "Payments Profile."
      • Vimeo OTT cannot see within this section due to our account permissions. Therefore, we are unable to provide direct screenshots.
    • Google will flag if there is an issue on the main page of your developer console dashboard. 
      • The notification can appear as red (more serious) or yellow. Regardless of notification color, please aim to resolve as soon as possible.

Amazon (Fire Tablet + Fire TV)

Within the Amazon developer console, you will want to ensure the following are completed:

  • Tax Identity
    • Royalty Tax Interview - This is needed if you are a paid service (SVOD and/or TVOD IAP).
    • Canada Tax Interview - This is needed if you are a paid service (SVOD and/or TVOD IAP) and intend to have your application geo-available in Canada. 
    • The "Service Tax Interview" can be left with a status of "Incomplete."

  • Payment and Benefits
    • Submit Payment Information. This is needed if you are a paid service (SVOD and/or TVOD IAP).

Microsoft (XBOX)

Within the Microsoft developer console, you will want to ensure the following are completed:
  • App Developer Agreement
    • Once a year, Microsoft requires the developer account owner to accept the new App Developer agreement they provide.

Roku

Within the Roku developer console, you will want to ensure the following are completed:
