About Samsung Tizen TV Applications Powered by Vimeo OTT

Vimeo OTT supports branded applications on Samsung Tizen TV models! If you’re interested in launching a Tizen application for your Vimeo OTT service, please reach out to your Account Manager.

With your Tizen TV application, your users will be able to seamlessly access all content available in your subscription channel on supported Samsung Tizen model groups from year 2018 and higher.

How does this work?

  • Similar to Vimeo OTT branded applications supported on other platforms, your Technical Program Manager will assist in the on-boarding of your new Samsung Tizen TV branded application solution which will feature your content, graphic assets, and metadata.

What is required to set it up?

  • Unlike other application platforms, you do not need to create and manage your own Samsung developer account to launch your application with Vimeo OTT! This is due to the relationship that Vimeo has with Samsung. Once you’ve published your service on Vimeo OTT, you are all set! 
  • If you have already launched additional Vimeo OTT applications, there may be a need to provide specific graphic assets for the Samsung Tizen platform. Your Technical Program Manager will let you know if this situation applies to you.

If I already have a Samsung Developer Account, can I use that for my Vimeo OTT application? 

  • If you already have an application available on Samsung Tizen, our team will work directly with Samsung to migrate it into the Vimeo Samsung developer account. This will allow us to maintain the application appropriately as long as remain an OTT Enterprise client. If you choose to leave Vimeo in the future, we will work with you in transferring your application back into your account.

What Samsung Tizen TV models are supported within Vimeo OTT?

Where can my Samsung Tizen application be available?

  • Vimeo OTT can publish your Samsung Tizen application in all international geo-regions that Samsung supports.

How will my users find the application?

  • Users can search for your Samsung Tizen application within the Samsung Apps store directly on their TV.

Is the application free for users to download?

  • Yes! Your Samsung Tizen application will always be free to download by your users in the Samsung Apps store. However, the application does not support in-application purchasing at this time.

If the application does not support purchasing, how will users access my service?

  • Brand-new users will be guided to your OTT website to initiate the subscription purchase on Samsung Tizen applications v.1.27.0 and forward, using a dedicated URL that will be displayed on their TV screen when the application is loaded.
  • Users who already have an active subscription to your OTT service will be granted access across all applications, including Samsung Tizen.

Are they any associated fees if a brand-new user subscribes using the dedicated URL?

  • Yes! A 15% fee will be taken from subscription purchases made by your users via the dedicated URL. 
    • This 15% fee applies to the user's initial purchase, future renewals, and will be included as a line item in your monthly payout statements.
    • The 15% fee only applies to customers who sign up via the designated URL within the Tizen application. Users who subscribe via other platforms may carry alternative fees. However, anyone who has an active account will be able to log-in and view content via your Samsung Tizen application afterward.

How will my users sign-in to the application?

  • When users open the application, they will be prompted to activate the application with their account by signing-in to a different device and entering the code provided into the application. Then, the application should load and the user should be all set to watch!

What if I leave Vimeo? Will I be able to transfer my application elsewhere?

  • Absolutely! If, in the future, you wish to transfer your application out of the Vimeo OTT Samsung developer account, you will need to create your own. Then, Vimeo will initiate the application transfer between accounts on your behalf. You can create a Samsung developer account by navigating to this page and selecting "Create Account" to begin the process. 
    • NOTE: Your Samsung Tizen application will remain available during any application transfer migration.
